K-Brief publishes Korean news in English for international readers. The principles below govern every story we run.
Sourcing
Every K-Brief article is based on reporting from established Korean-language news outlets — currently The Hankyoreh (한겨레) and The Kyunghyang Shinmun (경향신문). When multiple outlets cover the same event, we synthesize across them into a single briefing and credit every source at the foot of the article with a direct link to the original Korean reporting.
How stories are written
K-Brief uses generative AI in a structured editorial pipeline to summarize and restructure source material into self-contained English articles. The pipeline does not translate verbatim — it rewrites the story in journalistic English in the inverted-pyramid style, and appends a short Editor’s Note for context global readers might lack (key players, political background, historical references).
We disclose this openly because we believe a news source you can trust must be honest about how its stories come to exist.
Accuracy and corrections
K-Brief stays strictly factual to the Korean reporting it cites and does not introduce new facts beyond the source material. We do not embellish, speculate, or fabricate.

The original Korean reporting belongs to the outlets credited at the foot of each article. K-Brief’s English summarization and editorial framing — the rewriting, the Editor’s Notes, the headline choices — are © K-Brief.
What we do not cover
K-Brief focuses on stories with potential global relevance. We generally do not cover hyperlocal Korean municipal news or routine partisan domestic politics unless those stories carry implications for international readers.
