K-Brief (“we”, “us”) publishes Korean news in English at kbrief.com. This policy explains what information the site collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. It was last updated on June 1, 2026.
What we collect
K-Brief does not require accounts, logins, or subscriptions. You can read everything on this site without giving us any personal information. The data the site does process is limited to:
- Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical data for each request — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are routinely rotated.
- Visit counting. The site keeps an aggregate count of daily visits. The identifier used for this is discarded within 24 hours and is never linked to your identity.
Cookies
K-Brief itself sets no tracking cookies for reading articles. The site has no comment system, no user accounts, and no newsletter sign-up — there is nothing for us to remember you by. Cookies may be set by the third-party services described below (analytics and advertising).
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how readers find and use the site — which articles are read, from which countries, on which devices. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your truncated IP address, device information, and pages visited. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally to us. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
K-Brief displays advertising served by Google AdSense to support the cost of running the site. Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of many third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
For more detail on how Google uses data when you use our site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content — videos, social media posts, charts — from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the originating website directly: those sites may collect data about you, use their own cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any visitor data to anyone.
- We do not run our own behavioral profiling or cross-site tracking.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. This site’s content is intended for a general audience.
Data retention
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations, then routinely rotated and discarded.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA under GDPR and California under CCPA), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Since we hold almost no personal data, such requests are usually simple — email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy — for example, when adding a new analytics or advertising service — we will update this page and revise the date at the top.
